We have four classes of Members of the Association namely:
Ordinary Members are medical practitioners who are practicing Catholics or who, not being Catholics, agree with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Every Ordinary member is required to pay an annual subscription of Kshs 1000/-. Any subscription not paid by the 5th day of the subsequent month from the date the payment becomes due and payable shall be subject to a surcharge of Kshs.100/-
Any money owed to the Association by way of unpaid subscriptions or service charge is recoverable by the Association as a civil debt if such money shall remain unpaid for a period exceeding sixty days.
Associate Members are any corporation established by Statute or any body or corporation in which its activities are carried on in a manner similar to that of the Kenya Catholic Doctors Association. Associate Members also pay subscription or make donations to the funds of the Association which is decided by the Executive Committee from time to time. Associate members do not have votes at any General Meeting but have in all other respects the same rights privileges and liabilities as other Members.
The Executive Committee has power to elect Honorary Members to the Association upon such conditions as it may deem fit.
The Executive Committee has power to admit for the purpose of Affiliation such Association as it may deem desirable subject to the payment of a fee to be determined in each case by the Executive Committee in its own discretion and also has power at the like discretion and at any time by resolution carried by a majority of two thirds of those personally present at a meeting of the Executive Committee to suspend or to cancel the rights and privileges of any such Affiliated Association after giving any such Association a reasonable opportunity of being heard at the meeting but is not be obliged to give any reason for its decision.
Any Member other than an Ordinary Member may resign his Membership provided he gives written notice to the Executive Committee at least three months before the Thirty First Day of December in any year of his wish to resign and unless the Executive Committee otherwise determines his resignation shall become effective on the Thirty First Day of December of that year. Any Associate or Affiliated Member wishing to resign and who fails to give such notice shall be liable for the subscription for the ensuing year.
The Executive Committee shall have power by resolution carried by a majority of two thirds of those personally present and voting at a meeting of the Executive Committee to suspend or cancel the membership of any Member after giving such Member a reasonable opportunity of being heard at the meeting and shall not be obliged to give any reason for its decision.
If any Member shall die become of unsound mind or become a lunatic or shall be adjudged bankrupt or being a company shall go into liquidation whether compulsory or voluntary or being a partnership shall be dissolved, such Member shall ipso facto cease to be a Member of the Association.
Any person who by resignation or otherwise shall cease to be a Member shall nevertheless remain liable for and shall pay to the Association any sums which at the time of his ceasing to be a Member may be due from him to the Association and he shall not be entitled to any refund in respect of any unexpired portion of his subscription for the year in which he ceases to be a Member.
The rights and privileges attached to any class of Membership may be modified abrogated or varied with the consent in writing of three fourths of the Members of that class with the sanction of an extraordinary resolution passed at a General Meeting of the Association. This Article is not by implication to curtail the power of modification which the Association would have if the Article were omitted.
